Corona sind Grenzen ziemlich egal. Es ist kein österreichisches Problem, kein europäisches Problem. Es ist ein weltweites Problem und das macht es nicht gerade einfacher, die Situation in den Griff zu bekommen. Es bedeutet aber auch, dass es viele, viele Menschen auch außerhalb Österreichs gibt, die genauso zu Hause sitzen und sich an Ausgangsbeschränkungen und andere Maßnahmen halten müssen. Wir sitzen über alle Grenzen hinweg im selben Boot und wir haben uns überlegt, wie es auf diesem Boot aussieht.
In this together
Valida wohnt mit ihrer Familie in Sarajevo. Seit 17.3. gilt in Bosnien der Notstand. Schulen sind geschlossen, öffentliche Verkehrsmittel fahren nicht mehr. Genau wie in Österreich wurden alle größeren Veranstaltungen abgesagt.Personen unter 18 und über 65 dürfen nicht mehr aus dem Haus gehen, für alle anderen wurde eine Ausgangssperre für alle zwischen 20 Uhr und 5 Uhr verhängt. Beim Verlassen der Häuser muss 1,5 Meter Abstand gehalten und Schutzmasken getragen werden.

Wenn man Valida zuhört, merkt man, dass sie trotz der sehr düster wirkenden Situation einen positiven Blick auf die gesamte Situation hat. Sie probiert Menschen unter die Arme zu greifen, zu helfen wo es geht, teilt ihre Einkäufe mit Freunden. Auch ihr Humor ging trotz des Virus nicht verloren.
Helden der Straße
Valida wollte in der Situation helfen. Sie selbst musste auf Grund der Corona Krise ihr Hotel mit Anfang März zusperren und war gerührt von Nachrichten, die fragten ob sie Hilfe benötigte. Durch einen Zufall kam sie zum „Tim Volontare“. Dort schlossen sich Menschen zusammen, mittlerweile sind sie in mehreren Städten vertreten. Mit Schutzausrüstungen helfen sie den Menschen, die nicht mehr außer Haus dürfen und unterstützen wo sie können.
Viele Menschen in Bosnien werden momentan an den Beginn des Krieges erinnert. Valida hilft mit um diesen Menschen die Angst zu nehmen und ihr Leben angenehmer zu gestalten und hat mit Brenda darüber geplaudert.

Corona doesn’t care about borders. It is not an Austrian Problem, not a European problem. It is a worldwide problem and it does not exactly make it easier to get the situation under control. It also means, that there are many, many people outside of Austria who do the same as we are doing here: sit at home and adhere to exit restrictions and other measures. We are in the same boat across all borders and we have thought about how these other boat looks like.
In this together
Valida and her family live in Sarajevo. Since March 17th the state of emergency is declared in Bosnia. Schools are closed, public transport is no longer running. As in Austria, all major events were cancelled. People under 18 and over 65 are not allowed to leave their homes, for everyone else there is a curfew between 8pm and 5am. When leaving your home 1.5 meters distance have to be kept and protective masks must be worn.

When you listen to Valida, you notice that despite the very gloomy situation, she has a positive view of the whole situation. She tries to help people, to help where possible, to share purchases with friends and she keeps her humor, despite the virus.
Heroes of the Street
Valida wanted to help in the situation. Due to the Corona crisis her hotel was closed at the beginning of March and she was touched by messages of guests asking if she needed help. By chance she came to the „Tim Volontare“. It is organised by the youth group of the Sarajevo Film Festival and they now help people in need in several cities in Bosnia. With protective equipment, they help people who are no longer allowed to go out and support wherever they can.
Many people in Bosnia are currently remembering how it was at the beginning of the war. Valida helps to relieve the fear of these people and to make her life more pleasant. Brenda talked with her about that and much more.
